Milking Shorthorns
are a very old and established breed, and is currently regaining
popularity in Canada as a very efficient and profitable breed of
dairy cattle. The breed was established in the 18th century in Northwestern
England.
Parisien,
the first Simmental bull brought into Canada, was imported in 1967.
By 1969 the Canadian Simmental Association was incorporated under
the Livestock Pedigree Act.
The Canadian
Speckle Park Association is a non-profit organization. The mission
is to promote Speckle Park cattle, implement mandates for breed improvement,
expand membership and develop markets.
Two Black
Wagyu and two Red Wagyu bulls were imported from Japan to the USA
in March, 1976. At about the same time, semen from a fifth bull,
Itotani was brought into Canada.
